New venues, smaller audiences but the same enthusiasm for music, art, and culture.
Coronavirus has been a hard blow for everyone, as well as for culture in all its forms. Music events in 2020 had to be cancelled and music culture came to a standstill and had to adapt to a new virtual stage, without an audience and without as much media.
2021 brings some hope and, although theatres, squares and concert halls will not be filled to full capacity, culture is gradually reopening its doors and music will once again be heard. We will be able to enjoy classical music concerts, pop and rock music concerts, festivals… Music is life and people are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to enjoy it again.
Classical Music
This year is expected to see a return to an almost normal schedule of performances, with musical stars and major orchestras returning to the stage. In Spain, a number of concerts will be held.
The Berlin Philharmonic, with its conductor Kirill Petrenko, will perform in Spain on 2nd (Palau de la Música in Barcelona), 3rd and 6th of May (Auditorio Nacional in Madrid), as part of Ibermúsica. In the same month and as part of the same series, Yo-Yo Ma will perform Bach’s suites on the cello (13th May). These are just some of the performances that can be enjoyed in the coming months in Madrid and Barcelona. Covid-19 permitting, more performances are expected.
